Vancouver, B.C. – Staying warm and dry can make the difference between health and sickness and in some cases, life and death.
From November 13 to 20, REALTORS® at 158 Lower Mainland offices from Whistler to Hope, donated and collected blankets, sleeping bags and warm clothing to help people in need within their communities.
Although the final tally is not yet available, it is estimated that the total will nearly 5,000 bags. Realtors sorted then delivered donations to partner charities, which distribute items to the homeless, working poor and those who lack adequate winter clothing upon discharge from the hospital.

Since it began in 1994, this blanket drive has helped more than 345,000 people stay warm and dry, according to data provided by the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver.
Last year alone, more than 38,000 people received a blanket, coat, or other donation from the event.
To boost contributions, many realty offices held drive-thru days for the public and many more made personal donations and volunteered their time to promote, sort and deliver items as well as to coordinate this massive effort.
Twenty-four years ago, a few caring REALTORS® in Vancouver observed the homeless situation in the city’s Eastside and took action. With assistance from their colleagues, they delivered blankets and clothing to 3,000 homeless people in downtown Vancouver. Over the years, their project blossomed into the region-wide REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive, which continues to expand each year.
