Vernon, BC – On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the public is invited to drop off donations of winter clothing, blankets and boots at Sutton Group – Lakefront Realty’s office located at 2749 30th Street. The Warm & Fuzzy Shelter Collection drive-thru has become a popular annual event. REALTORS® and staff will be waiting to accept contributions from drivers. For those who cannot participate in the drive-thru, donations are very welcome at the office from November 12 to 16 during normal business hours.
“The Warm & Fuzzy Shelter Collection helps to keep our most vulnerable citizens warm and secure during the winter months,” says Broker Tamara Cinnamon. “Our team will deliver items to Howard House shelter, then other agencies such as the Women’s Transition House and Gateway Shelter will meet there to take what they require.”
Winter coats, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves and boots for men, women and children, as well as blankets and towels are urgently needed. The organizers ask that people do not donate other types of clothing since this drive is geared toward winter outdoor gear.
“This year, we will also accept cash donations along with clothing. We will provide a tax receipt for any donation over $20.” Tamara notes that cash donations are very helpful for the shelters, which can use the money to purchase specific items required by their clients.
Office Administrator Tara Sopel experienced the incredible community support last year. She saw their transport truck filled nearly to the brim with sleeping bags, blankets, coats, hats and even handmade, knitted mittens.
Tara asks the public to “please comb through your closets and help Sutton help our great community!”
