Peace of Mind and Time to Heal

Mississauga, ON – Sometimes life surprises us with bumps or potholes on our journey, reflects Broker of Record Blair Armstrong. In November 2017, his cherished Real Estate Receptionist Concierge Manuela ‘Manny’ Farrell encountered a 'bump' on her journey, in the form of a lump on her breast. Acting quickly, Manny went for all the necessary tests, and a biopsy, giving her a positive outcome: negative for cancer.

However, in April 2018, the lump had grown and by May 2018, a lumpectomy, and the resulting biopsy provided the news everyone feared: the results were positive for cancer. In June 2018, Manny began radiation treatment and the doctors also elected to do a lymph node biopsy.

With radiation treatments underway, Manuela and her family were told earlier this month that the cancerous lump that was removed had tested positive for a protein called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), which promotes the growth of cancer cells and requires aggressive treatment. HER2 appears in only 20% of cases.

On July 18, 2018, Manny commenced chemotherapy affecting her ability to work and support herself and her family, notes Blair, who is sharing her story in hopes that people will help in any way, large or small.
